Honey
Honey is made from the nectar of flowers, which is collected and placed in Honey Comb cells inside a Beehive. Over time this turns into delicious honey. It is stored in the hive for times when nectar is scarce.
The flavour and colour of Honey changes depending on the type of flowers the Bees collect the nectar from. Most honey from supermarkets is a mix of all different flavours of honey, combined and heated to produce a consistent colour and flavour.
Honey has a long history of use as a medicine, sweetener and flavouring. Honey is often taken to aid in the relief of sore throats and to settle upset stomachs. Honey is a quick, safe, natural energy giver because its simple sugars are quickly absorbed into the blood stream. As a natural, unprocessed and easily digested food, honey can be regarded as an important part of our diet.
